A richly, immersive performance, Trainspotting Live is one of those shows you either love or hate. Either way you have to give credit to the brilliant cast and great production, writes Elsie Cullen.
As soon as you enter the space you’re immediately transported to the dingy backstreets of 1980s’ Edinburgh via highly committed, outlandish and in your face performances from a cast of authentic and energetic actors. Both hilarious and outrageous, this piece not only manages to convey a wide range of raw, guttural emotions, but also masterfully evokes those same feelings from audience members.
If you like to watch and enjoy shows from a distance then this isn’t the night out for you. However, if it’s an experience you’re after and you’re familiar with the original novel by Irvine Welsh, then Trainspotting Live is something you can’t miss.
Be warned! This show is not for the faint hearted and I wouldn’t advise you to wear your best evening dress. Expect the unexpected.
