You never know what strangers will share with you when you find yourself next to one on a bench.

Finding peace and quiet on the common is something many people do; looking for some quality time to contemplate our existence away from the hustle and bustle of life is a joy when it happens, but on this common you could find yourself enmeshed in the lives of a multitude of characters ranging from the New Female Defender to the Lonely Vamp, a loved up Jack to a stressed City guy, and seeking solitude away from the world may be more difficult that you think.

Common People is the latest production from Open Stage, the theatre company based at Goldsmiths University, who have tapped into the sadness and hilarity of ordinary lives to produce a play that will make you think twice about the many people that pass you by in the vortex of London.

Common People is on at Goldsmiths’ Students’ Union Bar, Dixon Road, New Cross, SE14 6NW from 6th – 9th November. Time: 7.45pm. Admission: £12, £8.
