Greenwich Park has been given £346,500 for a new playground and the delivery of a Play Programme, writes Laura Burgoine…
The grant from the London Marathon Charitable Trust will go towards building an ‘inclusive’ playground, which is due to be ready by next summer.
The Royal Parks has worked closely with local parents of disabled children and children with special educational needs to design a playground with sand and water features, both at ground level and in raised channels designed to be more easily accessible to children with mobility issues.
The Royal Parks are also using the money to create Play Programmes in partnership with London Play, local schools and partner organisations such as Greenwich Parents Voice. The project will provide exciting and innovative play opportunities, which target the most deprived local communities.
