A new environmentally-friendly Starbucks drive thru has opened at Norman Park in Belvedere, creating 12 new jobs.
The store, which certified with the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) scheme, is the second to feature new sustainability features.
To celebrate the opening, a ribbon cutting ceremony took place last Friday, hosted by the shop’s local charity partner, Dreams Come True.
The charity aims to improve the lives of young people living with serious medical conditions.
Gemma Dolan, District Manager at Starbucks, said: “Myself, the store team and the designers are all so excited to open this brand-new store here in Belvedere.
The new design features reflect our commitment to sustainable retail and how we’re building more sustainable LEED-certified stores.”
She added: “We are looking forward to welcoming the local community into our new store, so please do come along and join us on the day for a coffee!”
The green coffee shop features a green living roof, which reduces run-off and pollution, and increases urban wildlife diversity.
It also has a coffee bar made from recycled brick and electrical vehicle chargers.
The Starbucks store is located at Norman Park, Clydesdale Way, Belvedere, DA17 6LD and will be open between 06:00 – 22:00, Monday to Saturday and from 07:00 – 22:00 on Sundays.
