The south bank’s Dandelyan has been crowned the World’s Best Bar.
Taking the prize at the World’s 50 Best Bars awards , Dandelyan competed against bars from 26 cities across 20 countries.
Claiming the top position, Dandelyan has also earned the title of Best Bar in Europe. After debuting on the list at No.50 in 2015, Dandelyan jumped to No.3 in 2016, then edged its way to No.2 in 2017. Created by innovative cocktail creator and bartender Ryan Chetiyawardana, Dandelyan’s goal is to bring a stylish neighbourhood vibe to the glamour of the Mondrian Hotel on the South bank, with sustainability and nature at its heart. Since opening in September 2014, Dandelyan has launched five cocktail menus all with a focus on botany.
Ten London bars made this year’s list, including Scout at number 28, Three Sheets at number 29), Swift (at number 46) and Coupette (at number18), which also won the Best New Opening Award. Connaught Bar (number 5) was also awarded the Heering Legend of the List title, which recognises the bar that has performed most consistently over the 10-year history of the list. Last year’s number 1, American Bar at The Savoy, now claims the number 2 position, while established London destinations including Bar Termini (number 6), Oriole (number 17) and Happiness Forgets (number 35) also remain on the list.
