A man reportedly in possession of a gun was shot by a police officer in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were called at around 3.55am to reports of the man carrying a firearm around Lewisham Road.
A concerned caller also raised fears about the safety of a woman at a Lewisham Road address, police said.
Armed offices stopped a car near to the junction of the road with Blackheath Hill – and during the stop, a police firearm was discharged.
The man, believed to be in his twenties, was taken to a south London hospital with gunshot injuries.
His condition is not life-threatening and he has been arrested.
A further six men have been arrested, five for false imprisonment and one for possession of an offensive weapon.
Road closures remained in place around the scene this morning.
The Independent Officer for Police Conduct (IOPC) has been informed, alongside the Directorate of Professional Standards.
