Who wants to collect secret packages, chase enemy agents, uncover their true identity and escape capture? Audiences can abandon their everyday lives and become the protagonist of Spy City, a theatrical adventure around London Bridge.
This intimate, action-packed three-part performance from COLAB Theatre starts in an exclusive spy members bar where you discover/uncover/reveal your true identity and begin your new life as an elite agent. Go on an undercover mission around London Bridge to find the safe house. Break in, rescue your fellow agents and see if you have the guts to escape.
Spy City is unique in its extremity as a show and pushing the fourth wall right into the very lives of the audience. Audiences get chased through the underground, hide in air vents, get tied up and interrogated – this is pervasive theatre – not immersive theatre.
Artistic director Bertie Watkins says: ‘Immersive theatre is growing up. Spy City is our final spy show. We’ve put all the best bits from all our last spy shows and created one final and incredible piece of interactive theatre. It’s an intense show that makes the world evolve around audiences for an evening, rather than paying £75 to be part of a crowd. Every person that comes through the door is focused on; they have as much of a role in the story as the actors performing in front of them.’
COLAB Theatre is now one of the first ever venues within London that is specifically dedicated to new immersive and pervasive work and Spy City is the first show to be performed at COLAB’s two new venues in London Bridge.
