The Flippin’ Good Fun Pancake Race is set to get heated in Greenwich Market with a pre-Lent event on Saturday 10 February, and a race on Shrove Tuesday itself (13 February).

There are medals to be won and plenty of pancakes up for grabs from the traders at Greenwich Market. You can turn up on the day and enter the race as a team or on your own. Pancakes and pans are provided.

Starts from noon on both dates.

The Royal Astronomy Museum is hosting a star-studded Valentine’s Evening. As part of the romantic themed planetarium show, there’s a chance to look at the moon through the 18-tonne Victorian telescope, and meander in the Meridian courtyard with a glass of bubbles, standing on the Prime Meridian of the world.

A chance to visit the Observatory after hours, and chat to astronomers about anything from the life cycles of stars, to the collisions between galaxies.

Romantic stargazing sessions include glasses of bubbly, and a classic red rose for each couple attending.

The February 14 session is sold out (worth checking for cancellations though). Tickets are still available for February 9 from 5:25pm-7:25pm, 5:30pm-7:30pm, 6:45pm-8:50pm, and 6.50pm-8:50pm. Admission: £40 adult/£34 concessions and members.
