The Salome Gallery was established in 2012 when local artist and carer Mary Salome took over a once dull meeting room in an NHS building.
It is part of SHARP – the Social Inclusion, Hope and Recovery Project – at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.
The gallery hosts six shows a year, each show including private viewing and an artist’s talk. Many artists are people who use mental health services or carers or hospital staff.
The gallery offers a lot of support, from assisting with pricing and framing pieces to helping new artists through anxiety about their exhibitions.
