Establish in 2000 in what was formerly the Bankside Power Station, the Tate Modern is Britain’s national gallery of international modern art and a draw for art lovers from all over the world.
It is one of the largest museums in the world and contains the national collection of art, spanning work from 1900 to the present day.
The gallery is free to enter, though it does host a handful of special events and exhibits that require the purchase of a ticket.
As well as exhibiting the permanent collection, the gallery hosts talks, performance art, workshops and film screenings.
