Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens
The original Vauxhall Gardens was opened before the Vauxhall Bridge was built and, for some time, could only be accessed by boat.
For more than two hundred years, it was an enormously popular destination for Londoners with time the to spare time to stroll through the beautiful greenery.
Over the years, it has hosted a wide variety of events, attractions and stalls, from tightrope walkers to fireworks to battle re-enactments.
Though it was closed in the mid-1800s and much of the land redeveloped afterwards, today it has once again reopened as Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, one of the public parks that provide some tranquillity and nature in the heart of London.
