Event Details

The GBF Friday night Festival Party was one of our last two festival’s most popular events. For 2018, we have a brilliant (and predominantly London-accented), line-up: Imogen Hermes Gowar, the Women’s and Desmond Elliott Prize-longlisted author of 2018’s most talked-about literary debut, the Deptford and Blackheath-set The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock; the Orange prizewinning Diana Evans discussing her new South-London-set novel Ordinary People; the award-winning Lissa Evans, introducing her mordantly funny 1920s-set Old Baggage, about a retired militant suffragette chafing at retirement; Louise Candlish, is the Sunday Times bestselling author of eleven novels, including The Swimming Pool and Our House’. And, from the US, the internationally-bestselling Paula McLain, returning to the territory of her global hit The Paris Wife, introduces Love and Ruin, imagining Ernest Hemingway’s marriage to the pioneering war reporter Martha Gellhorn. Come and sort your summer’s reading. Diana Evans is the award-winning author of 26a, The Wonder and Ordinary People Lissa Evans is the prizewinning writer for children and adults of Their Finest, Crooked Heart and Wed Wabbit Paula McLain is the American author of internationally bestselling novels including The Paris Wife Louise Candlish, is the South-East-London based author of several acclaimed novels Imogen Hermes Gowar is a prize-nominated debut author, also living in South-East London.
